Health and Sex education

At Waite End we adopt a cross-curricular approach to the teaching of health and sex education. Within the context of the broader school curriculum, we aim to provide children with knowledge, skills and attitudes, which enable them to make informed choices about healthy living.

Appropriate and responsible sex education is an important element in the work of the schools in preparing children for adult life. Prior to the teaching, parents will be invited to view the video. The children will be able to raise issues from the video within a reassuring environment.

The teaching offered at this school is, we hope, complementary to, and supportive of, the role of parents.

At primary school level, we aim to help children cope with the physical and emotional challenges of growing up, and give them an initial understanding of human reproduction.
