Behaviour
Achievement assemblies are held half termly to celebrate with the children and their parents the successes the children have attained. The teachers often deal with friendship issues, or a lack of understanding and concern for others, in circle time. Our pastoral assistant is also on hand to deal with ongoing issues or to give extra support where needed.
There are times when individual children's behaviour is more challenging. In these circumstances, the schools behaviour team will work with the children, his/her parents and the class teacher to meet the child's needs. Sanctions begin within the classroom, including loss of free time or "time out" from the classroom.
Bullying is not allowed at Waite End and is dealt with appropriately. Children are encouraged to report any form of bullying to any adult in school. Their class teacher and the pastoral assistant initially deal with the situation. Parents play a fundamental role in helping to resolve the problem. If the situation is not resolved, the headteacher becomes involved. The ultimate consequence is exclusion from the school.
